GuardIEn 7.6 Statement of Support for Windows Vista

IET's testing of GuardIEn 7.6 for Vista covers client only, not server-side executables. Certain restrictions need to be adhered to in order for GuardIEn to operate in a consistent manner under Vista:

• Display Settings 'Border Padding' must be 0 (ZERO)
• GuardIEn MUST be installed within the "Program Files" folder
• A separate folder must be created OUTSIDE of "Program Files" e.g. "c:\Gdn\Client76\"
• The following files must be copied from the "Program Files" GuardIEn folder into this other folder:

1. COMMCFG.ini
2. GdClientEnv.bat
3. The program icon shortcuts for all GuardIEn shortcuts must have their "Start In" folder changed to point to this other folder

GuardIEn 7.6 is built using Gen 7.5, whose runtimes are NOT officially supported by CA on Vista. Therefore if any further issues are found with GuardIEn 7.6 running on Vista, we will first need to establish whether the problem is within the Gen runtimes, or within GuardIEn logic. If it is found that the Gen 7.5 runtimes are at fault, there is little chance of getting any fix from CA. However, IET will endeavour to work with the customer to resolve such situations with any necessary workarounds where possible.
