IET Tools Plug-in for CA Gen Studio

The IET Tools Plug-in for CA Gen Studio is a free plug-in that enables you to browse action diagrams directly from within CA Gen Studio without needing to open the local model in the Gen toolset.

Starting with Gen r8, CA have begun a phased migration of the existing Gen Toolset into a new Eclipse-based framework, which is known as Gen Studio.

The initial launch of r8's Studio contains a small number of components, or plug-ins, and does not provide many of the diagrams that Gen developers will be accustomed to in the old Toolset, including the Action Diagram editor. In fact, there is no method for viewing an Action Diagram from within Studio at this time - you need to open the same model using the old Toolset to do that.

Therefore IET have developed a plug-in for Gen Studio which provides an Action Diagram viewer, based on GuardIEn's PAD extract technology. The Action Diagram viewer shows you the action diagram from the local model .dat files, so if the action diagram does not exist on the encyclopaedia or changes have not yet been uploaded, you can still view the new/updated action diagram from within Gen Studio without needing to open the toolset.

It also provides direct access to GuardIEn from within Gen Studio so that you can then browse the contents of the model in the Gen enyclopaedia using the extensive impact analysis and browsing features of GuardIEn and Object List+.
